NEW ORLEANS -- St. Charles parish investigators said an Internet video led to seven arrests. Police found the footage on MySpace showing off assault weapons and even threats against police.St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne described the video as troubling."There were actually threats to kill individuals," Champagne said. "There was even a reference to 'this gun has bodies on it,' meaning it may have been used to kill other people."
Investigators said there were also threats against police. Authorities did not have to search hard to find the suspects. They said the video tipped them off."In fact on the house in the graffiti is Meadows Drive which happens to be the name of the street where we located an assault weapon," Champagane said.In all, seven people were arrested for a range of gun and drug charges, even conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.Police said recently MySpace has played more of a role in their crime-fighting efforts."I would say it's pretty high level stupidity. Anyone else who has an assault weapons please get on MySpace and make a video for us and spray paint the name of the street location where you are. I would encourage that," Champagne said.
