Boil-Water Advisories In Effect For Several Parishes

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Boil-water advisories are in effect for Lafourche, St. Tammany, St. James and Terrebonne parishes due to power outages and damage to water systems caused by Hurricane Gustav.
State Health Officer Jimmy Guidry said residents who have lost water pressure or are experiencing low water pressure should boil water for a full minute after it reaches the boiling point before drinking, cooking, brushing teeth or preparing food.
